It Must Be Spring, the Deer are Coming!

I did not take this picture, but this how us Minnesotans feel about now. My neighbor is in Mexico for the week. The mind does tend to wander this time of year to someplace tropical.

  1. Wow! That is deep. I didn't think deer would go into snow that deep. Yesterday on the way home (thankfully during the daylight), we met two groups of deer. They were a little smarter - well, that's debatable - and avoided the snow filled ditches and fields.

The first was a group of five and they chose to run back and forth over the road in front of us for quite some time. We were thankful they kept going straight when we turned.

The second group of three blindsided us from the passenger side of the van - little too close for my comfort. They did the same criss-cross pattern until turning into a field.

This morning, the kids & I saw two more in the farm yard. They are beautiful, but I have no desire to see them running on the road again this winter.

  2. Wow! That is deep snow. Our yard has become a haven for deer. I guess, technically, we took over their stomping grounds when we built our house. They have been successful in destroying many flowers of mine over the years and they have left many a pile of droppings as well!! Any way, we just had one in the yard after mass yesterday and it must've been awfully hungry. It went around our entire yard and I spotted it coming over by the deck by the patio door. The kids got a kick out of it, especially that close and then when it crawled under our deck (which is about 1 1/2 ft. off the ground)and came back out sticking its head out. Looked just like a llama!! Kid you not! Silly deer.
