The Presentation of Jesus in the Temple

I love the symbolism in this picture. It has so much. The doves, the offering Joseph and Mary gave as they presented Jesus in the temple 40 days after his birth. Holy Simeon telling Mary her first sorrow. For a great explanation go here. Barbara has a wonderful crepe recipe on Catholic Cuisine today. I know after my first OB appt today, I'm stopping and getting some whipping cream for those crepes. I've never made crepes, but am going to try them tonight for this wonderful feast day. Barabara also has a ton of activities and beautiful explanations for this feast day and the upcoming feast days. Thank you so much Barbara!

I love the explanation of the crepes, the symbolism of the swaddled baby, Mary's sweet sorrow of how her love for her Son yet knowing the future that would give her great sorrow. I love the sweet cream inside the cream representing the sweetness and the purity of Mary.

  2. Dernit. Now I want crepes! I'm adding whipped cream to my shopping list. I hope I can hold off until tomorrow (that's the plan - shop tomorrow). I hope my ears don't explode from this cold. Ugh!

Hope it's a great OB visit and you make your crepes and enjoy them!

  4. I can't believe all of the cute crafts and treats you've been whipping up while pregnant. I don't think I could do a thing in the first trimester! You are awesome!

  5. Did you hear the baby's heartbeat yet? Did you eat your banana yet?

I make french pancakes (crepes) every Sunday with a side dish of venison sausage and a bowl of grapefruit mixed with oranges. TRADITION!

Also best picture award...I looked at many blogs today and your picture is my fav.

I'm with JOT - dernit! Haven't made crepes in years and now they sound yummy. Does half & half work?? I'll have to check the recipe.
