Too Sad to Post

I just heard that a woman, I know, Shirley, died this morning, driving home from Mass with 2 of her 8 daughters. Not sure of the injuries with her daughters, but please pray for her soul and her husband and family. She was a wonderful woman, full of faith and love. Truly beautiful inside and out.

I can't help but think of her and smile, she was that good. (through my tears, that is)

I am going to a women's conference tomorrow and she was one of the women who put together the whole thing every year for the last 6 years. Her daughters helped every year too. Her husband sat in Adoration every year during the conference.

Give your kids extra hugs today. That's what I keep thinking. Cherish every moment, we do not know when our last will be. Always be ready. Always be ready. Our souls must always be ready, for it is not here that we were made for.

***UPDATE**** her 2 youngest were with her, they are 7 and 10, they are fine. Shirley slid on ice through a stop sign, onto a highway and was hit by another car (the driver of that car is ok). Shirley was expecting her first grandaughter this month.

Eternal rest grant unto Shirley, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon her
May her soul and the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen.

  6. I blogged before I even read this. Feel goofy blogging about goofy stuff when something so sad happens.

I will miss going this year but will be praying for you and all the gals at the retreat.

  7. Shirley will be missed very much. She was so loved by so many.
Tomorrow will be a different kind of day at the retreat, without the presence of Shirley and her daughters surrounding her.

We will be keeping her family in our prayers.

  11. So sad for them. I will pray! Prayers are needed most in the long long days ahead! My heart goes out to them. Losing a spouse and parent is such a difficult thing for a family to transition through! May God's grace fill their hearts and home.

  13. I will miss Shirley and remember fondly the wonderful witness to the Faith she was for me as I was converting to Catholism 15 years ago. She always had a smile and a good word for you.
My heart breaks for her family... prayers for the respose of her soul and for sweet Joe and their girls...

  15. Heartbreaking.

*Feeling* your loss and it's sadness, I can only imagine the pain her family is going through...

    So sorry.

    Will pray.

Perhaps your community can do something in her honor? Something that connects to her efforts? She can live on in it's legacy...
