I Joined

I did Weight Watchers with my good friend Sarah a few years ago and lost like 25 pounds in 3 months. Then we decided to move and all that goes with that and well...I've had a hard time getting back on it. When we did it, we didn't actually join, we emailed each other everything we ate and what exercise we did every day.
This time I wanted something more concrete. Something to follow and refer to. So, since
Weight Watchers had a special going until Saturday, (you can join for only a buck, plus their $17/month 3 month minimum--online) I thought I'd try it.
I found out, I'm not eating enough. But, I'm not eating too little either.
Make sense?
I had a hard time filling up my points yesterday.
I'm liking it so far.

Seriously, I've thought this thought before.
This past weekend, I bought The Mayo Clinic Diet book.
I liked a lot of the information. I pretty much already knew it.
Eat less
Exercise more.
Whole grains.
Fruits
Veggies
Yeah, yeah.
But it was good to read it and get a little excited about it.
What I didn't like about it was their diet consists of 1200 calories.
No matter what your size.
They give no references for nursing mamas.
For me, 1200 is, just too little. I need like 500 more calories.
Which is what Weight Watchers gives me.
I'll try to keep updates, let's say monthly if you'd like.
We'll see.
I guess that depends on if I lose or not, right?

  2. Good luck girl. I started something back in January which has become a lifestyle change for me. I acquired a book "Eat Right for your blood type". and based on it's recomendations I gave us wheat products which includes breads, cakes, pies, etc. I can still eat gluten free grains and also cut out soft drinks. Now I drink bottled water and supplement with green tea with citrus. I lost 15 lbs and it has stayed at that level. I would like to loose another 15 but would have to be serious with salads and not so much meat to accomplish that. I wish you the best though.

  3. Good for you, Jamie! I am a Lifetime member of Weight Watchers, although I haven't been at my goal weight since before my twins ;-) I like the program a lot. Be sure to eat all your points, and your extra 35, too. I know this seems like weird advice, but I clearly remember one gal in my meeting who wasn't eating enough, and she also wasn't losing weight. We need variety as well as good fats, or we won't feel good. Following the Good Health Guidelines should help. God bless you through this journey!

  4. You go girl! I, like Sarah, am a Lifetimer having lost 40 pounds at WW several years ago. It really is the best lifestyle for common sense eating and activity. I also found that attending the meetings was critical to success. You get wonderful support from the other members, plus terrific tips and recipes. The accountability of the scale was always upfront in my mind also. You'll do great! Keep us posted on your success ~

  8. We can do this again!! Way to go in joining, Jamie!! I'm so proud of you!! We know it really works if we stick to it.
I still have 20 lbs of extra "baby weight" and I'm vowing to get more of it off (hopefully 1/2 of it) by Oct when Sophia turns 2.
I need to stop loosely counting my points and actually write them down every day so I can stay accurate!!! Now, to head to Kohls big sale in the early a.m. ALONE :) and buy some new tennies that don't give me blisters - let's get out and walk!!

  9. yay! for you!
    best of luck.
i know some people do better when they follow a specific "plan".
i was so happy to drop a size in the past few months just from eating less.
now if i could only exercise....
