Feast of the Archangels

Today is the feast of the Archangels, Sts. Michael, Gabriel and Raphael.
"The liturgy celebrates the feast of these three archangels who are venerated in the tradition of the church.
Michael (Who is like God?) was the archangel who fought against Satan and all his evil angels, defending all the friends of God.
He is protector of all humanity from the snares of the devil. Gabriel (Strength of God) announced to Zachariah the forthcoming birth of John the Baptist, and to Mary, the birth of Jesus. His greeting to the Virgin, "Hail, full of grace," is one of the most familiar and frequent prayers of the Christian people. Raphael (Medicine of God) is the archangel who took care of Tobias on his journey."

My favorite is St Michael.
Any stories of miracles he's worked for you?
Daily.
They are daily for me.
I need him daily.
Just the words of the beginning of the prayer,
"St Michael, the Archangel, defend...." and the icky feelings I feel,
whether it be anger, or complaining, or just stressed out
go away. Instantly.
Now, to remember every time, that's another thing.
I try though.
After I pick up the kiddos from piano, we will be off to the store to get "devils food cake" for us to poke with our sword forks for dessert tonight!
This week is so full of feast days, it's wonderful!
St Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle,
be our protection from the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray.
And do thou, prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God
cast into hell, Satan and all the evil spirits that prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.

  1. Today, the children have the day off, because it is their school's patron saint day. We had to pray the St. Michael prayer at lunchtime, because I could just feel the teasing and bickering rising ... On the way to school each morning, we pray a decade of the Rosary and then add the St. Michael prayer at the end. I agree with you. It is a necessary prayer to pray every. single. day. Sometimes more than once! We truly need his protection.

  2. Hi Jamie Jo

I hardly comment but have been reading your blog a long time. You asked if there had been miracles regarding this prayer? I don't know if it's a miracle, but definitely something strange.
I was finishing my night prayers and ended with the St.Micheal prayer. I then began to pray to my Guardian Angel and all the Archangels for me in times of protection and in times of temptation. As I was praying this prayer, suddenly a big dark shadow crossed through my room. I screamed (I hardly ever scream over things like this) and got goosebumps and tingling all over me. I ran and checked on the kids to see if they were up walking around but they were all sleeping. I have no explanation for this strange occurrence except that the Angles were chasing some dark spirit away. I'm sure it sounds a little crazy but I have had weird things happen before but have always found explanations for them.
I've prayed another St.Micheal prayer because now my baby monitor keeps getting stat-icy for no reason and then goes away. I've checked on the monitor in teh baby room but it's fine. It only gets staticy like this when someone is standing in front of it, which there is no one in this room but me.
I'm probably just freaking myself out but I'll be sleeping with my holy water and lights on!

  3. Wow, Becky, as I was reading your comment, I was thinking "get your holy water out!"

Have you blessed your home with a priest? That might help too.

There's a book called "Get Us Out of Here!" and it's about the Poor Souls in Purgatory, maybe it's a soul in your home that needs praying for.

Nice to "meet" you, thank you so much for reading!
