I'm Hooked!

I started watching this show last week, while pumping during the night.
(via Netflix streamed to the TV)
I'm almost done with the first season.
It's pretty good
I really like the take on storybook characters
and
I like that with each show,
the viewer gets to know another character
and
the cliffhangers are small,
 but interesting.

Any suggestions for anything else I'd like?

I've watched Full House, George Lopez,
every episode of Dr Phil from 2006, and
just about every infamertial on during the night.

(when I try to pray, I fall asleep, and when I fall asleep, my milk spills and
stops coming out...need to sit up straight and stay awake, so I pray during the daytime ones)

  1. We have recently started watching "The Middle" and think its hilarious. There's a little language so not really for young kiddos, and we haven't seen a ton of them so not sure if we'll hit anything inappropriate, but so far so good!

    1. Second Chances--I looked it up, but I think it's new and not available to watch instantly on Netflix....Patricia Heaton is in that one, I like her! (I think she's pro life?)

  2. I've been watching Cheers and Malcolm in the middle during those nightime feedings. Same sleep problem, and it would not be good to drop the baby. Also, I've watched mythbusters and a gazillion documentaries.

  3. Jamie Jo, my husband loved 24. I only saw bits and pieces but I think he watched all the series. He and I both watched the Jessie Stone movies on netflix. I think we saw four. there are six. If you like Tom Selleck these are awesome. I seem to recall they were hard to find on net flix but they are there. If you google "jesse stone movies Netflix" the first six links that come up should be the movies. We also saw Lion in Winter, awesome !!!! and Man for all seasons (St. Thomas More story)and Beckett, about St. Thomas Beckett. All three were excellent.

    1. Never heard of the Jesse Stone movies...I like Tom Selleck. My husband and I watched several seasons of 24--like 6 or 7 then got tired of the torture and the same stuff and quit watching it....They have the best cliffhangers that's for sure! Might have to start watching the last 2 seasons...Is that show still on?

LOVED A Man for All Seasons, one of my dad's favorite movies.

  5. My husband and I have watched Up All Night for 2 seasons now. It's pretty clean, has hilarious characters and promotes family life and marriage b/w one man, one woman. I thought I was the only one who watched tv while nursing at night! I also get all of the old BBC versions of classics like Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility etc.

  7. Oh! I love that show, too! We watch our t.v. shows through Netflix instant watch, too. Though, I haven't seen that many episodes yet. We (my husband and I) are still catching up with the Doctor Who episodes working our way up to the current season. A personal favorite for me is The Office (U.S.A version), though my husband is not much of a fan. I can't give it a 100% endorsement, because there is some occasional naughty humor (obviously nothing worse than PG-13 though since it is on television) but still it turns my husband off so take my mention with a grain of salt. I think I just fell in love with the characters, Jim and Pam, and Dwight and Michael (played by Steve Carell) never failed to make me laugh. I used to work in a medical/doctors office and some of the storylines remind me of those days. I just started making my way through the newest season 8.

Okay, one more is Lark Rise to Candleford. It is one that *both* my husband and I loved. Here is a link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1077744/

It is a BBC period series that is very heartwarming. It's kinda like a British Little House on the Prairie. I enjoyed it so much that I'd like to eventually get the set on DVD.

    1. Doctor Who? Never heard of it...I'll have to check it out. Funny you said what you did about The Office, because my husband and I tried watching it many years ago, like 7 or so and watched like 2 and thought, this is dumb. Then started it up again a few years later and love it now. It got better and better as we got to know the characters. Yes, your hubby is right, there is a naughty stuff, but it's funny that most of the time there's not, then once in a while they throw a whole show with bad humor in it.

We've actually laughed more in Parks and Recreation...hilarious!!!

Lark Rise to Candleford....I'le check it out! Sounds good...maybe, not so sure about British stuff.

      Thanks!

    2. I hope you like it. We love it, but we tend to enjoy most Sci-fi. My husband is a total Trekkie. I think you either love it or you don't. It's definitely quirky, but it grows on you in a good way. :)

  8. I have watched "Numbers" on netflix. I love it, but I have not really looked at it with the eyes of recommending it to someone. I "reward" myself by watching it while I clean the school room (sans kids).

  9. I have loved OUAT as well. LOVE IT!!!! I used to watch Farscape, not OK for kids and very science fiction. I loved Eureka as well, and a little less mature audience needed. Oh and I am still enjoying Warehouse 13.

Don't beat yourself up over the nursing. I know it is better, I do. I also know that mom not sleeping in 10 months is not healthy for anyone. Formulas are very good these days, much better than any time in history. Give yourself permission to supplement if you need it. You are not failing at all. It is one thing to let a sleeping baby suckle as you both close your eyes, it is another thing all together to pump. You have shown us all how to be a better mom with how much you sacrifice even sleep for your little one.

      I've never heard of those!

I feel like I've made it almost 10 months, I just have to make it all the way!!! (I'm a perfectionist, can you tell?)

  10. We only watch Americas got talent...but I know you watched that also.

    Not watching anything right now.

Dr. Phil is a crazy show. Whenever I watch it I think how helpful it would be for some people on this planet to learn about God.

    1. That's so true!!! I hate how Dr Phil strings them along, to cause good TV, just get down to helping them. "put some verbs in your sentences" as he says. In the middle of the night, there is only episodes from 2006 and 2008. I always wonder where they are now?

  14. Mikayla and I spent three days watching Once Upon a Time. We couldn't stop it was so addicting. We pulled an all-nighter the first night watching the first 11 episodes. Crazy, I know. It was like the longest, best movie ever. I love the Avengers/Super Heros movies with my boys, so this was a fun girl thing for us to do. I enjoyed seeing your reader's suggestions of other things to watch.
