Here's the Video!!!

You can  hear him crying in the background, because he's in the highchair wanting out!
I had to go through Youtube for some reason Blogger would not let me upload it.

He would smile and wave and sometimes talk, especially to our 6 year old, every time he saw her,
(pictured here) he'd say "Ga" "Ga"!

With homeschooling, our babies are so used to being around everyone all the time, being at the hospital, a hour and a half away, well, it just didn't work for them to visit, the youngest was not even allowed to come, because of their "no 5 and under" kids.  SO, this was so nice, even just for the noise!

Thanks again Nicole, all but a few times,
this is what comforted him, and to a mama, that means the world!

    1. He waved at the end and talked to them, sometimes he just smiled. BUT it almost always calmed him...except for the bladder spasms...nothing worked except morphine for those.

  4. I could watch that a zillion times too. What love for that baby.

How long did a bladder spasm last?

    1. Oh, they were awful...he had them 3 or 4 times, that's when mama would cry...he'd push me away, didn't want to be held or anything, just cry and be very irritated, and one of his tubes, (he had 2 coming out of his bladder and the catheter) the non bloody one would become bloody...He is going to be peeing blood for a week or so...I'll never get used to changing bloody diapers. They'd come and give him morphine and he'd finally let me hold him, standing rocking on my left shoulder....so hard.

  6. Sweet baby. Praying for him. Have you guys known for a long time he would need this surgery or did he just suddenly start to show signs that something was wrong?

    1. Kari--he was born with Hydroneurphrosis (sp?) we knew he had it before he was born, it's fluid in the kidneys. Because of this, we thought he'd need surgery within the first couple weeks of being born, but miraculously the blockage in his ureters back then, cleared up...but we were checking it every few months. This past summer he ended up with a urinary tract infection, which was caused from another blockage in his ureters. His ureters were partially blocked, causing urine to back up in his kidneys, causing infections....so we have had him on antibiotics since August, we had tests done in September and then they set up the surgery date as close to a year as possible. (his birthday is Saturday the 22nd) He also was circumcised, which has been quite painful. His ureters were long and coiled, they cut them, made them straight and reattached them to his bladder.

      Thank you for your prayers!

  7. I don't know why blogger seems to be eating my comments, but it is so good to know he is where he is happiest, and to see the love amongst all of you!

  8. Yay, I finally was able to watch the video and it is GREAT! Thanks for sharing.

Does it still hurt him to pee blood or are the spasms done and the blood is just an aftereffect of the surgery? It would freak me out changing bloody diapers too (I should say it has since I have experienced that).

BTW, I think you couldn't upload the video via blogger because of size. I had that issue before too.

And before I go, happy birthday to Simeon! I hope you all have a beautiful day celebrating.

    1. Hmmmmm...maybe the videos need to be a minute or less? Just bugs me I had to do 2 posts...would have been nice to have it in one post.

It does still hurt him to pee, but that's because of the circumcision and another issue, but the spasms are done, they were caused by the catheter. Once that was out, no more spasms...everything is a catch 22, needs catheter:catheter causes spasms:spasms make him need the pain meds: pain meds=constipation=loss of appetite...

He is pooping and eating again normal, but has been running a fever, so we're giving him ibuprofin...hoping it goes away soon. He's so sad for his birthday.

When did you have to experience bloody diapers? Oh, it's hard to see, I do it quickly.

    2. Catch 22's ain't easy... Hopefully it gets easier day by day and that the fever goes away!

While I am guessing you see much more blood than I have, we experienced it with Zoe when she had e. coli awhile back and when she was a newborn she had some when she was dehydrated and had uric acid crystals in her diaper. No matter the amount, it is alarming to say the least.

Hope you get a smile out of him today. :)

    3. Oh, gosh...I'm sure it was worse for you, you probably didn't know why yet? I at least know it's supposed to be bloody for a week or so...it's from the bladder, from reattaching the ureters...blood from the ureters too....

      We're getting a couple...

    4. Glad for the smiles.

Having blood in the stool was worse for me because I thought it was food related. We had been having such trouble going to solids. I was thinking food allergies (what else can't we eat?!) or even some other digestive problem. Thank goodness it wasn't and in the last few weeks she has really leaped and bounded with solids.

The blood with dehydration was just weird. It was rusty/orange and there were crystals in her diaper. It was definitely on the scary side at the time as she would not wake to eat, thus creating a vicious circle. But the blood itself didn't alarm me like the e. coli infection. But see? Time has passed and babies are thriving and growing. :)

  10. I forgot he was being circumcised too. We had our first three boys done, but after the pain Liam went through, we opted out for Fionn and Samuel. Hope we don't regret that in the long run.
