The Good and Bad Movie Reviews!

 This movie was awesome!
The whole family watched it
And loved it!
(some of us watched it twice!)

It is based on a true story of an unlikely track team with considerable odds
against them, including the coach,
who is played by Kevin Costner!
(I like him and his movies)

Here's the real life people the movie was about!

 Here's another running movie.
(which is odd, because rarely are there movies about track teams!)

This one is about a blind teenager that wants to run on the track team
but he needs a partner to help guide him.
Someone as fast as him.
The best person to help him ends up being a boy
that has some troubles, but they form a friendship and it ends up
helping them both!
Jill Hennessey plays the blind boy's mother,
which made us (me) decide to start watching Crossing Jordan.
I've seen some shows here and there (while nursing babies during the night)
but never watched from the beginning.
SO Tom and I are enjoying this one.
This one was a pleasant surprise!
Full of twists and a suspenseful plot,
Tom and I really enjoyed it!

This one also had a few plot twists,
however, I give this one a thumbs down.
It had an interesting story, clever ways of showing how to scam people,
and it had Will Smith!
BUT
It had too much of this.
And too much lying and deceit with each other.
The movie could have been really good without this.
Way better, in my opinion.
Another thumbs down.
the first episode (via Netflex)
was really good.
Tom and I thought, "Oh, good, a good drama"
Then, we watched the 2nd episode.

Really bad.
Really really bad.
As in we shut it off, but not soon enough and
those images will never be erased from my mind.

Why do they do that?
Totally unnecessary.

The good and the bad.

Here's a couple of my new favorite songs (this week)
This video is kind of sad though, because it shows
Paul Walker, who died in a car accident in real life.
So young and such a loss.

Ed Sheeran.
Gosh, I like his music.
Doesn't everyone?
He's so young and talented, isn't he?
What a cute video.
He's only 24 years old now.
Amazing talent.

Thankful

Thankful so very Thankful for Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.

Today, we celebrated Corpus Christi, The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ.

I have to say, that the number one reason I choose to be Catholic
and love my faith so much, is
Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.

My words are not even doing Him justice.
My words are inadequate for this Great Sacrament.

I'll let the Bible do the talking here.

 Read John Chapter 6
Jesus says 6 times,
we must eat His Body and Drink His Blood.

6 Times.

He knew His words needed to be clear.
Many people walked away,
he was very clear, he did not change his words.
He did NOT beg them to come back.

He said His words clearly.
6 times.

He did NOT say, "Wait! It's only a symbol"

This is what He said--here's John Chapter 6:

47 In all truth I tell you, everyone who believes has eternal life.
48 I am the bread of life.
49 Your fathers ate manna in the desert and they are dead;
50 but this is the bread which comes down from heaven, so that a person may eat it and not die.
51 I am the living bread which has come down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will live for ever; and the bread that I shall give is my flesh, for the life of the world.'
52 Then the Jews started arguing among themselves, 'How can this man give us his flesh to eat?'
53 Jesus replied to them: In all truth I tell you, if you do not eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.
54 Anyone who does eat my flesh and drink my blood has eternal life, and I shall raise that person up on the last day.
55 For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink.
56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives in me and I live in that person.
57 As the living Father sent me and I draw life from the Father, so whoever eats me will also draw life from me.
58 This is the bread which has come down from heaven; it is not like the bread our ancestors ate: they are dead, but anyone who eats this bread will live for ever.

How can a person actually argue with that?
Seriously.
His words are very clear.

So very Thankful especially on this feasts day of Corpus Christi,
for the Eucharist.

Thankful I was blessed to be able to go to a Eucharistic Conference
this past weekend.
It was awesome.

Thankful for my new 9 year old!
OH, she is my "little love girl" as I call her!
So full of love and hugs and kisses.
She's warm and loving and does not have a mean thought or bone in her!

She wanted a "roller skating" birthday
so we got her some roller blades!

She went skating with a close friend at the same skating rink
I went to when I was a kid.

Same carpet too, can you tell?

 The girls had a blast!

And now they have these great walkers for little skaters!
Talk about cool!
 Now, how cute is she?

Pretty sure these are also the same skates they had 35 years ago.

 Her birthday is June 1
and usually the iris's are blooming, this year they were just about to open up!
(they did the next day)
Thankful for Iris's.
(not sure if Arizona will have them or not)

We've had a lot of rainy days lately.
When it's raining or snowing,
I always want to bake.
Thankful I now have a baker.
And she LOVES to bake.

Thankful for sweet 5 year olds with curls.
(humidity is good for those curls)
Oh, my gosh.
What's not to be Thankful with these two?
 Thankful for warm park days
 new roller blades
and ice cream trucks!!
Can you believe we have an ice cream truck in Minnesota?

If you listen carefully, you can hear me tell the kids "no".
Who brings money to the park?

Thankful for Fruit by the Foot.
Sometimes you just have to get fun food like that.
 They loved it.
 Again.
Thankful again.
Thankful for dandelion blowers
and sleepy 3 year olds!
(she was doing ABC Mouse here and he got bored watching I guess)
Thankful these 2 are still little and love each other
and are closest friends.
Thankful for my awesome neighbor Jeanne and the CUTEST grandchild.
That she shares with us when he visits!
 Thankful for summer swinging...
and this may just look like normal woods to you...
 but inside,
you'll find a fort filled with fun outdoor "food"
and flower arrangements.

Doesn't this bring  you back to childhood?
Thankful for childhood and all that comes with it.
 Thankful for last piano recitals.
The oldest 2 have been in piano for 8 years.
They are really talented and I love music in our home!
(my 9 year old has been doing it for 2 years)
Mary here is our teacher and she is amazing.
We will miss her dearly

Thankful I just know our home will sell...
we've had a quiet past 2 weeks, but I know the right family is out there.

Blessings.

Time for Movie Reviews!

 Time for reviews.
Or, well, my opinion anyway.
I don't really review them,
because I don't want to give anything away!

Turnaround Jake was watched via Netflix.
I liked it
It had a Christian theme,
without it being in your face fake overload
(I'll explain that comment later)

 This was a pleasant surprise.
This is about a marriage that's failing.
I loved that they actually love each other and
if you know my reviews, you know that I only like movies
with happy endings..
(OK, I gave that one away,
but you'd get that from reading the description of the movie anyway!)
Another "Christian" movie, but not in your face overload.

I like how there was another man there, to, I guess tempt her
into leaving her husband,
but they made him just as nice as her husband.
It really was up to her to decide to fight or give up.

It had Gerald McRaney in it.
I really like him

You remember him from this show, don't you?
And he's married to Delta Burke!
Aren't they just the cutest couple?

The Song
Another "work on our marriage" movie!
The main character is Alan Powell, from the music group Anthem Lights!
I really liked this movie, it took me on a roller coaster ride,
happy, sad, mad, happy...

 Heaven is Waiting
Another Christian move, but not in your face Christian.
(I'll explain that now)

What I mean by that, is that, it's just in the movie like it's the norm.
Like it should be.

I've really loved seeing this in these movies.

I really liked this movie.
A little slow, but really good.

This one was very good also.
Another Christian movie.
This one we let our oldest watch with us,
but it does deal with the subject of suicide
and is, we feel, more for older kids
(our oldest is 15, which was a good age)

Really good movie about a teen that loses his father
and all he goes through afterward.

This one, had some pretty famous stars in it, like
Ashley Judd, Seth Green, and Ray Liotta.
I really liked how Ray Liotta was in this, he did a really good job.
Actually, so did Ashley Judd.

This movie was really corney though.
Because the main actor plays a twin to a famous singer,
who they made seem kind of like Elvis...but not Elvis.
They even mention Elvis in it at one point.
Other than that, it was a pretty good movie.
(I had a hard time getting past the part that he was kind of like Elvis,
even looking like him)
I think this movie would have been better if they would not have
done that, but had a different actor and made his songs just a different type.
(they were not Elvis songs just songs like Elvis had)

This also was a Christian movie, but not in your face,
just the way it was naturally.
The Good Lie
This was a really good movie!
This was based on a true story.
It really really makes you think about how we treat refugees
and if we are really helping them or not.

 Now, onto some bad ones.
I was excited to see this movie, The Best of Me.
It sure looks like a "Jamie Movie" from the cover, right?
Well, it was OK
I didn't like, and I'm going to give some things away here,
that they did NOT work on the marriage that was broken.
The woman has an affair
with the man that the viewer is supposed to want her to,
I guess.
I was just disappointed.
That ruined it for me.

This movie, I actually saw before the above movies
where the couples actually worked on their marriages,
which is what made them so refreshing.
Tom and I started watching this show via Netflix.
We made it through maybe 5 or 6
It seemed like it was going to be really good.
And, hey, I really like seeing Kevin Bacon in a regular show,
but it was just so dark and so, ummm, not happy-endingish.

If you know what I mean.

We got tired of everyone turning out to be bad in it.
So, and many might disagree with me on this one,
I give this thumbs down.
This one is in the middle for me.

I like these actors in this kind of movie.
It had bad things in it though.
Like, of course they sleep together.
And they talk about it.

But it was also kind of funny.

I feel guilty saying it, but I actually kind of liked it,
Oh, gosh sakes!

Tom and I LOVE Blue Bloods!!
Now this show is really really good!
It has happy endings every single show
(we are on the 2nd season)
They have a problem and solve it every episode.

This is about a Catholic family
and they show Catholic things just in the normal every day life,
like eating a meal together every week as a family and praying before they eat.

(I do have one complaint, though, it bugs the crap out of me that
they do not pray the prayer before meals right.  I mean, if you are going to
make them a Catholic family and put it in there on purpose, get it right)

Tom Selleck
I love seeing him in the "Dad" role.
I wanted to see what he was doing now and if he was actually Catholic in real life.
I found out that he likes playing a role in a family that shows their faith.
(his soul is drawn to that holiness, the soul knows, I tell you, the soul knows)
But
he said that he is not "religious" himself.

Since there was a "but" there,
let's all pray for him, OK?

My kids are loving this show.
Yes, it's corney.
Yes, if there is a woman in the show, he will kiss her.
But it's clean and good!

My 2 oldest girls are loving Doctor Who.
I think it's so stupid.

Cinderella
Oh, how I loved this movie!
We saw this a couple weeks ago, while our home had an open house.
It's out of the theaters now.
This one is a buying one.
As in, we have to own this one.

I won't tell you what she says at the end to her stepmother,
but it's beautiful. And probably my favorite part.

Well, the dance with the Prince has to be my favorite too...
it was really really good and flowy and it just made you want to be a princess.
Like we all are.

And, I love how he takes her breath away when he touches her back,
when they start to dance...and continues to take her breath away.
There was one point where she took his away too...loved that.
I loved that they showed that.

You can actually watch it on Youtube HERE
(don't know how long that link will work though, because I don't think
they are supposed to do that)

I'll leave you with my new favorite song.
I think Steven Tyler looks really good and healthy
and I love the words to this.
You can see him HERE

Now if you've seen any of these, let me know your opinion!!
