Life

I'm posting an update picture for anyone still out there to see how much my kiddos have grown! I have so many things that have happened in this past year. I'd like to start writing weekly "Thankful" posts to catch up on life things. Life has been hard for us these past few years and it's just hard to blog when when hard things happen. I always like to keep it real and hope to continue to do so.

I'm  looking forward to catching up with YOU! If you are reading, please leave a comment, let me know how you are doing, what's going on in your life and if you'd like me to pray for you for any reason!

(this photo is actually from May, my oldest daughter's Confirmation)

  4. Jamie—I have missed you! I have especially wondered about your little guy’s cleft lip/palate since my son was born 14 years ago with one too. Good to see your post today!

    1. Oh, thank you for commenting! How is your son doing? How many surgeries has he had? Simeon's next surgery is going to be when he starts losing his front teeth, they will take part of his hip bone and form a gumline in his mouth. I'm SO dreading it. I try not to worry about it and just leave it in God's hands. Did your son need to have this surgery done too? Simeon finished speech therapy last fall. His speech is really good. He struggles a little with the TH and TR sounds. (front of mouth sounds) but I guess this is age appropriate at this time. Thank you again for commenting!

    2. My son is now 14 and had that same hip bone procedure done when he was in 1st grade. The hardest part was him eating afterwards. He was on a liquid diet for almost 8 weeks. He ate so many ice cream shakes—-our freezer was full of ice cream! You’ll get creative! He’s had a lot of work done with orthodontics and will need jaw surgery later on. He’s at that age where looks are becoming more important and he’s noticing differences in his facial features due to his cleft lip. I’m praying about that and wondering if we should consult with a plastic surgeon? Since our son was born, I’ve relied on Gid’s Direction and timing...I’ve tried to take things day by day because all cleft kids are different and need different things. Will doesn’t struggle with speech but seems to struggle with many ear infections even with tubes. He plays trombone in the band which we were told couldn’t be done. We’re very grateful for all his gifts! Hang in there!

  5. I am beyond excited to see your family back in the blog world. I have been lazy about blogging lately. Everyone looks fantastic. I know life isn't easy but you are such a good writer. Sometimes we see Christ when we see how others respond to adversity. Please don't hesitate to share you life. I am so glad you are 'back'!!
