A Language of His Own

I am trying to teach Simeon Little Red, Sign Language,
really, I am.
(my sis is deaf, so I know how to do it)
It's just that,
he has his own language
 Like this, it means
I want to go outside NOW!!!!
or
I want a cracker NOW!!!!
or
I want you to hold me NOW!!!!
or
I want you to read me a book NOW!!!!
This means,
I want what SHE has NOW!!!!
Can you tell, he demands to feed himself?
My philosophy is:
better on him, than on me and the floor.

Good thing I understand his language
and let him "talk" all he wants.
He might not get what he wants,
but he can "talk" all he wants...

  1. Heeeheee!!! It's good you are fluent in Simeon! What a little cutie, even when he's mad. And oh the memories of toddler feeding times!

(We watched the Olympus movie last night- I don't think I took a breath the whole way through!)

    1. Oh, I know, I forgot to mention that it's not much of a relaxing movie! Hope you liked it!

Yes, mad is cute at this age. We try not to laugh, it makes him even madder!

  3. awesome! My lil' Aaron just took to throwing himself on the ground when he would like something. I think it is so entertaining to watch! I laugh...he does NOT like that!

  4. I just love your little guy. He is so full of energy. My little guy speaks the same language and we are trying to teach him sign language. It is actually fun for everyone to learn. The bigger kids really like it and we use it when we are out in public. My sign language is very limited, though. We are learning using DVD's from the library. This age passes by so quickly, sigh.

  5. Our grandson Ryan is starting to use the same language! If we walk into our daughter's house and don't immediately go to pick him up, we hear about it!

  6. Haha, this is great. I remarked to my husband today that I don't know if I have the energy to go through another toddler. My little girl goes, "mmmm" in different tones. And if someone is bugging her or she doesn't get her way, she screams. At the top of her lungs, anywhere, anytime. And we're months still away from two as you know. God bless you. By the way, his new blog name is cute.

  8. Poor little man. He's had a tough start and I think he needs about 25 extra hugs a day. ;-)

  9. I think this is an intrinsic language. I have a VERY similar yogurt picture of Ava from yesterday. I'll post it just for you!

  10. Fun to see pictures of him..eating or on the floor wanting what he wants. I cannot believe how fast he is growing up!

  11. This looks a little too familiar...not that I'm struggling with the exact same issue over here, or anything! The only sign that has really stuck with Peter is "eat" and he points to his mouth pretty much all the time. Is he really that hungry?!

Enjoy this while it lasts. Look at our oldest...we know how quickly this time goes by! :-)

  12. lol - love the "he might not get what he wants" line! Yes, they think they are the absolute center of the universe at this age, don't they? :-)
    Blessings~
