Defiance

My husband and I watched this movie last night (and the night before, as it is over 2 hours long). It is based on a true story about a family of brothers (4) who saved over 1,000 Jewish people during WWII. They hid in the woods of Germany. This was so interesting, I love reading and watching things from this era of time. So amazing that this was only 60 years ago. It's not a movie for kids, as it shows some real sad, sad things, of course. It has a great parallel to Moses and if you like movies about the Holocaust, you will love this one.

    Did you ever see I Am David? Also from that era and a real tear jerker.

    i've been waiting for this one too! glad it was good.
    and for the record, i LOVED i am david. it was GREAT!!! the fact that jim caveizel was in it was an added bonus!

    Now, I have to clarify, things happen that are very sad, things like survival things, human nature in such desparate times...but I liked it because I think the movie shows how it was.

    I'll second I Am David - both my hubby and I really liked it. I haven't seen any previews for Defiance, but in general I like this type of movie. I'll have to add it to our queue, as well.

    Barbara- I recently read the Book Thief! A very interesting read. I am also currently reading, "Those Who Save Us," also about Nazi Germany...although, I am not sure about endorsing it because of some of the disturbing things in it...
