Finally, huh? I hesitate to even post these pictures, because I feel kind of like it's exploiting him. We love him so very much and I ...
Holy Moly you've got yourself an addiction going....hee hee just kidding.
ReplyDeleteI just subscribed to one called Food. Yes...because of all the pretty pictures.
I want to get my recipes in order.
Count me in! And I just subscribed to Food Network magazine (and a couple of others)...and they ALL showed up in the mail within 2 days!
ReplyDeletei am so a food magazine sucker. i love looking at all the pictures of food free from drips. spills. dirty kitchens. etc.
ReplyDeletein fact it is so funny you posted this today because this morning i woke up really early before my hubby left. then crawled back in bed with 4 food magazines. the screwtape letters and my magnificat. i really shoulda been praying. but instead i laid there thinking about mashed potates with a hint of nutmeg and thyme. and a salad with carmelized walnuts and balsamic vinegar.
my mouth watering....like it is now. again.
Ha! You already know I'm a food magazine addict!! The one thing I have noticed about the BHG Christmas Cookie magazines is that they do tend to reuse the same cookie recipes, but just update the decorations or shape. I still fall for it, though, and already bought the 2009 BHG Christmas Cookie magazine.
ReplyDeleteFood is a big part of our lives ... it adds spice and is an inexpensive change to the norm.
It's funny that you posted this, because I was thinking of doing the same thing, Jamie, in a future post! I am totally a food magazine sucker, too, especially during November and December with all the festive holiday recipes. I don't buy as many during the rest of the year ... I like looking at the decorating, too, to get inspired. I've already purchased Rachel Ray, BHG, Real Simple, Weight Watchers (because I do TRY to cook healthy), and that's only November! LOL—Laugh Out Loud! =)
ReplyDeleteOh yes!!! I should take a picture of my shelf! I'm considered a "hoarder" of cooking magazines and cookbooks! I love them!
ReplyDeleteI'm also a lover of catalogs! I rarely order from them, but I love looking at them!
I used to be a collector of decorating magazines...having to do with country decorating. Now as I get older...I have gravitated to the food magazines. I can't throw one away. I had one in my hands just yesterday...it cost about $10By the time I got to the checkout I thought...do I really need this? No,and put it back. I am still thinking about it though. You girls are much younger that I am...and I thought it was old age.
ReplyDeleteBalisha
Huge sucker here! :) I actually had my in-laws get me a subscription to the little Pillsbury one and the other one (can't even remember which one) because I would end up buying so many that I was wasting money. Now I can't get subscriptions here and they don't have little cooking magazines- in English anyway- and I am in withdrawal!!! So, I really enjoyed seeing your photo of all of your little magazines. :)
ReplyDeletePop! That was the sound of my arm popping out of my shoulder to raise my hand! Yes! I'm horrible when passing by food magazine at the grocery store. I have way too many. And I have a whole category in my Amazon Wish List for just cookbooks.
ReplyDeleteKind of ironic that I have no idea what to make for supper tonight, isn't it?
Okay Jaime, I wrote a post on my blog from my heart. I can't wait to hear the thoughts of my favorite blogger about my post! I will be looking forward to hearing from you when you have a chance to come and look! My new post is about my favorite subject - the Blessed Mother and the Rosary!! I know she is very special to you too, which makes us spiritual sisters right? :)
ReplyDeleteP.S. I ordered a bunch of copies of the 54 day rosary novena booklet and guess who I will be sending one first? Yes -YOU!! I am giving them out in thanksgiving for all the graces, gifts, and blessings I have already received from God through the Blessed Mother and her rosary!! :)
You're in my thoughts and prayers!!
my email is: prayrosary4life@aol.com
Love,

Oh by the way, YOU are my favorite blogger! Hugs to you, my dear friend in the mid-west!

As you can tell, I LOVE anything about the Blessed Mother and the Rosary!!

Maria Therese :)
Jamie. Can you email me at Sarahs.Journey(at)yahoo.com. I have a question for you. Advice needed for a mutual friend of ours. ;) Thank you!! - Sarah
ReplyDeleteIf they could get a recipe all on one page I would spring for these more often. Better yet, perforated recipe cards.
ReplyDeleteI do like recipes from Real Simple and recently bought a Real Simple cookbook off the magazine rack. It was, like, $13 but at least the format was one recipe and one photo per spread.
I magazine recipes I do have are in the process of being typed up and added to a seasonal favorites 3 ring binder. Hence my new "Friday Fall Favorites" posts.
