Don't Forget Your Supplies!!

 Thanksgiving is coming quick!
I'm off to do my bi-weekly shopping and had to put these ingredients on my list
so, this is a friendly reminder in case you need it!

Put a little frosting on the top of the Bugle and dip in Fruity Pebbles..that's it!
Cornucopia= Horn of plenty, overflowing with blessings

 Pilgrim's hats...
(these are old pictures from years past)

Both these treats are fun and easy for kids to make themselves!
Funny thing when I see this, it makes me kind of mad inside.
I Know, why you ask?
Because
Isn't this the attitude we should have towards SUNDAYS?
You know, the Lord's day?

I asked a Wal-Mart employee friend if she minded working on holidays or Sundays
She said they get overtime pay, so that kind of made it better.

I'm not pledging to NOT SHOP
But I'm not shopping on that day.
Are you kidding?
Who has time to shop on Thanksgiving?
I'll be cooking and doing dishes,
with a small 1/2 hour break in the middle
Where everything that's been prepared (all day) is gobbled up!
Am I right?
If some of us are with family on Thanksgiving,
we are working.
Right Barbara?
Sometimes shopping doesn't sound that bad
But, I know, it's all about family and thankfulness...
And the FOOD.
Seriously, it's mostly about the food.

And seriously, after a half hour, it's all over (for them!)
 (Just kidding--kind of)

Thankful Thanksgiving

 Thankful for these beautiful kiddos!
Thankful Wednesday has become our "game night"
Thankful this sweet boy lets me take his picture once in a while...
Thankful for painted rocks to adorn our front porch
Thankful my sweet little 3 year old loves chocolate breastmilk
(I know  you cringed when you read this, but, it's good for her and
it's not going to waste!)
(hey--she was the least sick, this last round of whatever everyone got)
Thankful I finally got the kids summer clothes into bins
(now to get them downstairs)
Thankful my 3 year old finally gave up her nukies!
It's been a week, she's doing great!
She has asked 3 times now, at bedtime, but I just say
"No, honey, you are 3 now, you don't need your nukies."
to which she says,
"I dooooooo need my nukies"
Awwwwww.....breaks my heart too,
but gotta do it sometime!
Thankful when I hit a deer on the way home from gymnastics,
he didn't die or hurt any of us!
(OK, I kind of wanted him to be dead)
At first,
I thought it was a dog,
I was going slow, he had almost gotten past me,
then, had that "deer in the headlight" look
and turned back and swiped the side of our van!!!
Stupid deer.
(someone put that sticker on in a parking lot)
 Thankful for lite brite!
(a great thing now that it's dark so early)
Thankful I caught her right before she opened all my spices
(you can see if you click on the picture, she was playing with the food coloring lids)
Thankful this sweet little boy is healing nicely.
Surgery is so hard on little babies, he's still not totally himself
He doesn't let us put him down much
Thankful when he does!
Thankful the weather here in Minnesota has been beautiful!
Thankful I was able to plant my tulips this week
with the help of a couple littles....
(like no-coat-or light-sweater beautiful)
Thankful I have helpers to help with the pre Thanksgiving meal prep
cutting breadcrumbs, making the pumpkin cheesecake, cutting veggies...
Thankful my breadcrumbs are ready to be made into deliciousness
for Thanksgiving!
Thankful Neen's family brought back St Kateri Medals
blessed by the Holy Father for Simeon and his family!
Thankful my kids are thankful and have no problem thinking of things they are thankful for
Thankful a friend put together a liturgical craft package to get us through Advent,
complete with snacks to go with each event
(like St Nicholas day and St Lucy Day!)
Thankful Mary Hannah took an Oil Pastel Art class
and created this beautiful piece of Art!
Thankful my baby got in 3 teeth in the week after his surgery
Poor baby!
He now has 4 teeth, working on more, I can feel them...
No wonder he's fussy and not himself!
(click on the picture for a close up, you can see where his teeth are coming in
on this front  piece, he has 4 teeth in that piece, so 2 more will appear soon)
 And now we pray:
Thank you Lord
for my faith, my marriage, my family and friends
for sweet babies, and crazy kiddos
for having the blessing of not needing anything
Happy Thanksgiving to you,
God bless you!

Thankful Thanksgiving!

As flowers carry dewdrops, trembling on the edges of the petals, and ready to fall at the first waft of the wind or brush of bird, so the heart should carry its beaded words of thanksgiving. At the first breath of heavenly flavor, let down the shower perfumed with the heart's gratitude.
-Henry Ward Beecher
Thankful for big sisters who help little sisters in the snow!
I can't even zip up my coat, so this is a lifesaver!
(click on the picture, the colors are so bright and beautiful!)
Thankful no one broke their necks after sitting in this
"It's totally safe Mom!" sled.
(oldest daughter, aka risk taker)
Thankful for rosy cheeks and hot cocoa after playing in the snow
Thankful for tights and a little girl who will wear them!!
My big girls won't wear them because "they itch"
(they wear pants or leggings w/their dresses instead)
(I have no idea what my daughter is doing in the background)
Thankful for tights and for Walmart who sells them cheaply!!
$3 and they are a great quality!
Thankful (one of my favorite thankfuls this week)
for little girls who can say so beautifully
"I wuv uuu!"
(I love you!)
Thankful we finally made out Christ the King cake on Tuesday....
It's been a busy week...don't those M&M's look like jewels on a crown?

 Thankful for turkey pictures galore...

Thankful  for the deer visiting our backyard...eating the pumpkins we threw in the woods!
Thankful after today's temp of over 50 degrees, the snow is pretty much gone!
Thankful for this concert/play the kiddos have been planning all week and
the posters taped all over the house so we don't forget...
Thankful for my online friends and IRL friends who are praying for me and this baby,
it means so much and I am just overwhelmed and over joyed by your kindness.

Thankful for this baby and that in 5 weeks, 4 days I can change from "worry" mode
to "do" mode.  Although, I'm thinking, now, with the low fluid, it will be sooner than that
(might make that little extra tax deduction this year after all)

Thankful for a cautious doctor, I have another ultrasound tomorrow to
measure fluid and the size of the baby's kidney.
(this will be my 5th appt this week)

Thankful my husband cancelled our guests for today (a couple weeks ago),
although, I was upset at first, (he knows the only way to slow me down is to force me)
after this stress-filled week, it turned out to be the best thing.

Thankful I've got my turkey in the oven and it's starting to smell heavenly...gotta go get
potatoes, green beans and noodles on....

Happy Blessed Thanksgiving!

Since It's Turkey Month

I post these every year, but they are just too fun to not post!
Mini Cornucopia's
I picked up our supplies at Walmart yesterday, this is all you need:
Fun and easy for the kiddos to make themselves!
And so pretty!
Just put a little frosting on the open end of the Bugle and then dip in the Fruity Pebbles!

Cornucopia: A symboof food and abundance dating back to the 5th century. In North America it has become associated with Thanksgiving and harvest.
Mini Pilgrim Hats

These, too, are very easy!
Fudge Striped Cookies, (upside down)
Frosting
Peanut Butter Cups

I've also seen them with some kind of little square candy in the front of the hat...
but we only do this!

Making a Comeback!

Wow! So, it's been a few years since I've been on this old blog! I have some updates to work on but thought I'd start today! Ab...
