Appetizer Ideas?

I always bring veggies and dip.
It's easy and I love them!

We are invited to go to a get together in a couple weeks though
so I thought maybe I should put more thought into it than my old standby!

Or, I mean I thought maybe you'd help me with the more thought part.
What appetizers do you like to bring places and/or serve?

  1. I love a veggie tray with either dip or easy hummus (no tahini required) but lately, I've been serving roasted chickpeas at the last few parties we've hosted.

    1. I know you said that your little cupcake loved those chickpeas...but my kiddos just did not! I wonder why? Hummus dip though, would change things up a little...I usually do a dill or spinach dip!

  2. http://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/blt-bites I've made these before and they're great and look awesome. They're a little time consuming though. I have also made them with Roma tomato slices topped with the mix. I've also used chive and onion cream cheese instead of mayo. They're really good though!

  4. Do you ever buy the small fresh mozzarella cheese balls from the dairy case? Add those to olive oil, fresh basil, a splash of vinegar, and lots of cherry tomatoes.

  5. These two dishes always get a great reception at home and when I take them anywhere: http://blessusolord.blogspot.com/2010/10/caprese-salad-skewers.html

    1. Thank you Barbara! Those both look amazing!
Simeon is doing great! He had his 1 week follow up Monday and they thought he looked almost 100%!
We are waiting for them to call back with a date to take care of his clogged tear ducts, which might have been the cause in the first place.

He's potty training now...or, ummmm, I am doing it. He went through 5 pairs of Spider Man undies yesterday but had success right before bed!!
Put him on the potty after supper and gave him chocolate milk, he sat there while he watched a few cartoons, then I read to him, for an HOUR. I left him to go get him a bedtime snack
and while I was getting it, he yelled, "I go ta ta" (Which is "Potty")!

Must have needed that privacy! Ha!

Thanks for asking! God bless you, have a good day.

    or bacon wrapped smokies http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/brown-sugar-smokies/Detail.aspx

And at Christmas we had these:

    Taco Meatball Bites http://wm13.walmart.com/Cook/Recipes/22627/

    and

    Bake Brie Cups http://wm13.walmart.com/Cook/Recipes/33634/

Both were a huge hit with the kids especially the Brie Cups.

    1. I'm leaning towards that veggie pizza...close to what I usually bring, but a little different.

      Thanks for the ideas!
      Are you on Facebook?

  8. Okay. Without reading through all of these, what about an artichoke dip? I never in my wild dreams thought I'd like artichoke dip...tried it once, and it was amazing! I do not have a recipe for it since I just tasted it at a party.

    1. Artichoke dip? I'd have to try it I think! I have no idea how to even cook artichokes. I think it sounds wonderful though.

  9. As an appetizer, I'm pretty simple I like tortilla chips with homemade dip, veggie trays, or fruit trays. I don't think you can go wrong with one of those. I usually make my own fruit or vegetable tray to make it a little more personal, and it's usually a little cheaper too.

    1. You are right. I think I always bring veggies and dip, because I can have them! (and I like them) Being a type one diabetic, I can't just eat snacks (without insulin) so veggies are always what I bring. Fruit tray sounds wonderful too with a good fruit dip!

      Thanks for the ideas.
(and yes, I always make my own...no premades here)

  10. Our go-to appetizer is cucumber sandwiches. We buy the little party loaf of rye bread, spread on veggie cream cheese and then top it with a cucumber slice and a little sprinkle of dill. It's quick, easy, and pretty, and my kids LOVE them.

    1. Mmmmmm....those sound wonderful! I think a cherry/grape tomato on top would be pretty and good too!

      Thanks for the idea!

  11. I am not great at creative appetizers. Chips and salsa usually does it for me. Sorry I am not of much help. I am catching up on blogs this morning and just read your last post. Hope you are all doing better! Sounds like you have all been under the weather. So glad that your baby's surgery went OK and that he is on the mend. God's blessings to you all.

  12. I love to bring snake bites, http://www.9peasmom.blogspot.com/2013/08/good-things-snake-bites.html
or I'll bring homemade bread sticks. Brie heated up with walnuts over top, served with sliced granny smith apples is always a hit. Antipasto platter. Olive/Pickle tray. No matter what though, deviled eggs is ALWAYS the hands down favorite.
