List the Movies that are really worth the time to watch:
- The Sound of Music
- You've Got Mail
- The Princess Bride
- Star Wars (any of them, for a couple reasons. 1. my son and husband love them and 2. they are a good example of the forces of good and evil...pun intended.
- Shrek
- The Truman Show
- X-Men (any of them)
- 16 Candles
- The Breakfast Club
- Pretty In Pink
- Some Kind of Wonderful
- My Cousin Vinney
- The Butterfly Effect
- Ferris Bueller's Day Off
- The Parent Trap (Old one and newer one)
- Sabrina (the newer one with Harrison Ford)
- Selena
- Joseph King of Dreams (the children's movie, it explained a lot as did the next one)
- Prince of Egypt
- The Pelican Brief (and a few other John Grisham movies)
- One Fine Day
- The Patriot
- The Passion of Christ
- Braveheart
- The Gladiator
- Bella
- 13 Going on 30
- While You Were Sleeping
- Dan in Real Life
- Jesus of Nazareth
- Titanic (but not for the love story part, for the huge-ness of it, the movie really made it seem more real, as it was hard to imagine it before that)
- Pride and Predjudice (what the heck is BBC? I've only seen the version with Donald Sutherland....about 10 times--didn't know there was another version, that explains all the pictures on other people's blogs...pictures of the characters from the book that I've never seen.....)
- A Few Good Men "You can't handle the truth!" come on, can you actually think of or say that movie outloud without quoting Jack Nicholson? Name me a husband who has not said those words! (many times)
- Indiana Jones movies
- The Prize Winner of Defiance Ohio
Wow, that was fun....could think of a ton more. This actually made me think about all those hours. All those hours spent watching, really nothing. It made me think of all those hours watching movies not listed. It made me think about how God knows. He knows how much we've watched. He knows what we've watched. Will He, at the end of my life show me all those wasted hours? Don't you sometimes wish you lived in a time before all our modern conveniences and well, just stuff? Really makes a person think. Gosh, why am I such a thinker like that? It really was fun to list these and I've added some new ones from other lists that I'd like to see. Like "Millions" and "Simon Birch" and "3 Weddings and a Funeral". Will they be worth 2 hours of my time?
I'm adding to my list, from yours, BELLA. I LUVED Eduardo!
ReplyDeleteWe're huge Star Wars fans here too.
Thanks for joining in and great job!
I love your list...we could watch movies together for hours...many of your favorites are mine as well...need to work on this...
ReplyDeleteGreat list! I might just have to join in as well, after reading JMJ's :o)
ReplyDeleteI have found as I've aged that I am more willing to turn something off rather than waste time viewing a 'bad' show. But, I didn't always do that. Some TV shows I used to love (e.g. Criminal Minds) have gotten too dark to be worth it for me. A few people I admire that get so much done in life are ones that rarely watch *any* shows/movies.
Great List! I also like your thought on wasted time. so true, so true! We don't have any TV channels (we do watch a couple of movies a week), and I don't miss them at all! I wonder how I ever found time for TV to begin with!
ReplyDeleteI think I'd feel as if I were wasting that time if I did it all the time or I spent that moving watching time alone - we watch as a family - planned time together. And, we select carefully.
ReplyDeleteI spend very little time, only in comparison to some, watching telly at all.
Oh, you can get BBC version of P&P from anywhere these days. I got mine from Sam's Club. ;) Love love love Colin Firth as Darcy!
I love all of those too. I would add Life Is Beautiful and Slumdog Millionaire and a whole ton of others! Bella was a good story but poorly produced/acted and made me very dizzy. I think that Simon Birch and Four Weddings are well worth the time (far away from the kids...adult themes and swearing). Of course, I liked Waterworld. I might not be the very best judge hahahaha!
