Hannah Montana The Movie

My kids have been getting their "mommy dates" in over this past week, before the baby comes. It's just special time they get to spend with me and no one else. I look forward to it and they do too. They each do "daddy dates" too. Ballerina Rosie and I decided she'd stay up after the other kiddos went to bed and we'd watch Hannah Montana The Movie and have ice cream!

We do not watch the TV show. I have seen it once or twice so I do understand what it's about. Basically the TV show is about a girl named Miley who kind of has a double life, that no one knows about except her family and her closest friend. Her other life is as Hannah Montana, the pop music superstar. This way she can live a normal life as herself.

The movie was excellent!! I loved it!!! I loved the music. I loved that it was rated G and had nothing bad in it at all. This movie I'd like for our home collection. Really, it was that good. She goes home to Tennessee to visit her Grandmother and is humbled and must decide herself what is important, living the double life or just being herself always.

Now, we are not going to go out and buy a bunch of Hannah Montana garb, but the movie was a great family movie and I'd watch it again, except my hubby returns those Netflix movies so fast we never get a chance to watch anything more than once!! He'll have to order it again for us!!

  1. Good to know. We've banned the show in our house, just because we aren't completely 'sold' on it and that it's just too 'teeny-bopper-ish' for our liking.
Glad to know that the movie may actually be a good option to try. Thanks!

  2. Great to know! My girls love stuff like this, and I am always reluctant to indulge them. The three of us watched the first two High School Musical movies together, and now I can add this to the list of possibilities without having to preview it. Thanks!

I know you're super busy right now, but have you ever posted something about your mommy and daddy dates? I would love to read about the logistics -- how often, spending limits, what age you start, etc. My husband and I have been talking about starting this with the new school year as the kids REALLY enjoy that one-on-one time.

You and baby will be in my thoughts and prayers! Many blessings for a safe birth and a quick recovery.

    God Bless

  4. This is good to know. It came out in the theaters here, but only in German so we didn't see it.

I have been SO reluctant to dive into anything Hannah Montana. It's just the whole commercialism thing that drives me crazy. My daughter has never seen the show (since we don't have TV), but yet she 'loves' Hannah Montana from what she's heard at school I suppose. But, anyway...

I'm glad to hear the movie is good and fun. Thanks for sharing!!

Can't wait to 'meet' your little one.

  5. Wow! I am pleasantly surprised! Thanks for letting us know that it's a good one for kids ... I never would have guessed because of all the Hannah Montana *stuff* that is out now ... Some of it seems so over the top ... Good to know the movie is wholesome!

  6. My girls always speak about Hanna Montana in conspiratorial whispers, like, "We don't WATCH Hanna Montana, do we, Momma?"

It's good to know she's not as evil as all that. ;)

Seriously, Jamie, I find myself giving in on little things just so the kids and I can talk about them.

Like The Little Mermaid (and her little conch shells).

Or...hmmm. I can't think of anything else that I've given in on recently, but letting them watch The Little Mermaid was HUGE. Isn't that funny? I think it comes from my SSPX background.

(Happy feast of St. Pius X, by the way! Pray to him for this crazy world and for the many misunderstandings.)

  7. Oh, and I laughed at your comment about your husband returning the Netflix DVDs! We have the opposite problem: ours languish on the shelf until I finally get around to finding the envelope.

Though I will say I've been pretty motivated now that we're into 24.

  8. Michelle, Yes, I will post something about mommy and daddy dates....sometime!

Margaret, I've heard my kiddos say quietly "Remember when Daddy let us watch "Hannah Montana"?" So, I know they've at least watched it once on TV.

    Kind of funny!

  9. My oldest got some Hannah Montana stuff last year for her birthday from her godmother, and she just whispers quietly "what do I do with it?"

Glad you got a few extra days before baby comes. I'll be checking in for baby news. Prayers for your safe delivery and recovery.
