Feast of the Assumption!

Today is one of my favorite days of the year, my Consecration day!
I found this painting of the Assumption of Mary, so beautiful and what I'd imagine Heaven looking like, kind of, I guess, it would be even more glorious, but I like the layers of Saints and Angels welcoming her in!
I love this painting also, because of the babies. I know it shows baby angels, but a person can't help but imagine them being the souls of all our babies we've lost and how our Blessed Mother has them. I love how they have that beautiful, innocent, natural love for her.

Happy Feast day, I'm off to Mass this morning and Confession later!
Many blessings to you all!

  1. Jamie, happy consecration day! I think I must have missed something, did you consecrate yourself to Mary through St. Louis de Montfort? I've been considering this, and if this is what you mean by your consecration day, I would love it if you could tell me more about your experience. Thanks!

  2. Hi Anne, yes, the St Louis de Montfort Consecration to Jesus through Mary. I linked to the original post in the green words in the post.

gosh, my experience, this was my 14th year doing it. It is suggested at the end to renew every year on the same day. SO, I always start mine on July 13th and it goes until the Assumption. All I can say is grace. So much grace. I cannot imagine not doing it. I look forward to it. I can't say it is easy. The first few years, something bad or very stressfull would happen and I started expecting it, and told a priest that I was kind of afraid to do the consecration again, that the devil seems to attack me. He told me not to give the devil that much credit and to basically tell him, he was not going to deter me from doing it and pray the St Michael prayer a lot!!

I've not had a hard time since. I've had dry years, but in the end, it all comes together. Each time I do it, I get something different out of it. This time it seemed to be so focused on my motherhood.

I was thinking today that tomorrow morning my prayers are going to seem so wimpy, after all these prayers the last 33 days!! If you do choose to do it, the thing that works out best for me is to always say the prayers in the morning, if I would ever skip the morning, I'd end up getting behind, or praying half asleep before bed! This time, I only prayed the prayers one time in the evening.

Graces, graces, graces. I need all I can get, so I love it!

Does that help? I hope that answers it ok. I cannot give it justice in words.

  3. Thank you so much Jamie! I'm going to go back to the link and pay better attention. I'm glad that you have such a positive attitude about it, that is very encouraging! I've got until Oct. 17th to learn as much as I can about it, so you've been a big help!
